Hiking around Granada

Elena worked from home again and after a bit of a lie in, I joined her, working on my blog and emails. I ended up teaching her a few things in Excel which will hopefully help her be a little more efficient in her work. Mid-afternoon she suggested that we go for a walk into some of the older parts of Granada that I hadn’t seen yet, specifically Sacromonte and Albayzín. The weather wasn’t terribly great with some misty rain falling but that wasn’t going to dissuade us. We started off with a quick drink and some tapas (need fuel right?!?). We then walked through the labyrinth of pedestrian streets and soon had a nice view looking towards the Alhambra. We continued on and eventually ended up in a wooded area where there are many caves, some of which are turned into homes. Some are quite shanty-like whereas some others have a full facade and look like a proper home.

It was starting to get dark so we headed back towards Elena’s neighbourhood and went out for some tapas. What a great idea these tapas are...you have a drink and you get a free little appetizer. I wondered how the bars really make money but Elena explained that an establishment pretty much has to do it or clients will go elsewhere. We went to a few different places and didn’t need to get any dinner as we were full up on tapas.

Tomorrow I head back to England for a couple of days before flying on to India. The next phase of Wandergliding is about to begin...
