The Museum of Bricks (Lego)
February 9th, 2024
After the Museum of Fantastic
Illusions, we had a short walk to the Museum
of Bricks, which from the outside simply looked like a Lego store, which it
was on the main level, with the museum downstairs. We thought we overheard someone at the counter
purchasing a Lego set and that he was going to get a discount on his museum
ticket. Naomi had planned on buying some
gifts for her nephews and niece so we started off by choosing some items for
them and proceeding to the till. Turns
out that there was no discount. Oh well. We bought our tickets and headed downstairs.
Like the previous post, I’ll let
the photos do most of the talking on this post.
This spaceman was in the window shop. The space Lego was my favorite type of Lego as a kid.
A mosaic by the stairs down to the museum:
You can build an Atari or Nintendo gaming system out of Lego!
The 600 year-old astronomical clock of Prague:
The Trevi Fountain from Rome. Have to admit that the figures of the sculpture didn't translate well into Lego bricks.
A busy Lego diorama:
An awesome football (soccer) stadium:
I'm not sure what's going on here...there's a Mad Max looking guy on three-wheeled motorcycle dragging a guy by a chain around his foot, while Big Bird is chasing them on a horse!
Didn't understand this one either with the Statue of Liberty:
Warming us up for our next stop to the model train museum:
Canada represents!
I had a couple of these very basic helicopters as a kid.
I also had the ambulance and the big helicopter.
And this tow truck...
The Eiffel Tower:
The Opera House in Sydney:
The Taj Mahal:
Some underwater scene:
The streets of Prague:
More Prague.
The Simpsons.
The Kremlin in Moscow:
The Charles Bridge in Prague...sorry, I filmed it a bit too quickly.
There were some interesting scenes on the bridge...including these fellows:
The National Museum in Prague:
Now the Star Wars and Space section, starting with the Millennium Falcon:
The Battle of Hoth:
This was my priced piece of my Lego collection as a kid:
And I had this one...
And this one...
The Saturn Rocket:
The Lunar Lander:
And the Space Shuttle...called "Adventure", not the name of one of the actual space shuttles. I noticed no NASA logos too...probably no trademark worries this way.
If that was enough of a day already, the Museum of Fantastic Illusions followed by this place...next stop, the “Railway Kingdom”, a miniature model train museum…Choo-Choo!
